Frequently Asked Questions
Is this product made in Tuvalu?
Yes. All Fenua Ola products are proudly manufactured in Tuvalu. The base ingredient—extra-virgin coconut oil—is locally produced using traditional fermentation methods. Every bottle reflects Tuvaluan craftsmanship and care.
How can Tuvalu make this product? There’s no factory.
While Tuvalu doesn’t have large-scale factories, we’ve established a small dedicated production space near the end of the runway in Funafuti. We produce in small batches with precision and care.
Is the product quality any good?
Absolutely. Fenua Ola products were formulated in New Zealand and tested in a certified GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) cosmetic lab. They meet international standards and are comparable in quality to other premium skincare brands.
Is the product safe for me to use?
Yes, our products are safe for general use. However, if you have very sensitive skin, we recommend doing a patch test before full application—especially for facial products.
Has the product been tested?
Yes. All formulations have been developed and tested in a certified cosmetic manufacturing lab in New Zealand. They comply with Cosmetics New Zealand and European Union cosmetic regulations.
How much of the ingredients are from Tuvalu?
The hero ingredient—extra-virgin coconut oil—is produced in Tuvalu and makes up 30% to 45% of each product’s weight. We also use noni (nonu) in our balm. Many of our fragrances are inspired by Tuvalu’s natural landscape, including coconut and frangipani, which are abundant across the islands.
When will I be able to buy this product?
Products will be available for purchase in Funafuti from mid-October. In November, we aim to launch online sales and also to stock products at select spas in New Zealand and Australia.
Can I buy this product in Australia and New Zealand?
Yes. We are actively pursuing stockists in both countries and expect availability in November through select retailers and our website.
Will you increase the number of local ingredients in future products?
Yes. We are exploring the skincare benefits of Tuvaluan plants—both as fragrance sources and oil ingredients. We’re supporting initiatives to produce fetau (tamanu) oil and researching the use of noni (nonu). If you have suggestions, we’d love to hear them.
Fetau oil is a popular skincare ingredient. When will you add it?
We are currently supporting training for fetau/tamanu oil production in Tuvalu. We hope to include fetau oil in our formulations next year, once local production is established.
Will you add noni seed oil to your products?
Noni seed oil is a valuable skincare ingredient. While it’s not currently produced in Tuvalu, we plan to invest in training and equipment for local production in the future.
Why is there only one fragrance per product? Will you offer more?
We’ve started with one signature fragrance per product to ensure clarity and consistency. Expanding our fragrance range is part of our research and development plan. Expect more Tuvaluan-inspired scents next year.
How do you meet international standards with Tuvalu’s water quality challenges?
Our products are oil-based and contain no water. This eliminates concerns about water quality and ensures product safety and stability.
Tuvalu has no factories. How are these products made?
We’ve built a small-scale production facility in Funafuti, near the runway. We produce in small batches with precision and care.
